How can I talk with my Battle Buddy:

  • Remain respectful and calm....your Battle Buddy may be struggling with several emotions at once.

  • Be patient... it usually takes more than one conversation before people accept the idea of getting help.

  • Don’t argue or attempt to talk them out of their feelings, thoughts, and/or emotions.

  • Minimize distraction during conversations...so your Battle Buddy knows they have your full attention.

  • Avoid giving advice unless specifically asked for it...remember it is not about you.

  • Assess for risk... directly question suicide intentions....identify support system.....
